Pride bounce back with runaway win over Missouri Valley

MARSHALL, Mo. - Spending a week away from game action for finals, the Clarke University women's basketball team bounced back in a big way in a 79-53 win over Missouri Valley College on Saturday,.

The Pride were able to win every quarter including a dominant 24-12 advantage in the second quarter to head into the halftime break leading by 13 points before extending it to 22 heading into the fourth.

As a team, CU shot 44.6 percent from the field led by a game-high 16-point performance from Tina Ubl as she shot 6-for-10 from the field and 2-of-3 from three point range, hitting half of the Pride's shots from distance.

With her performance on Saturday, Ubl moved into third place all time for scoring in Clarke women's basketball history, passing Kelli Miller's 1,577 as Ubl now sits at 1,589.

Including Ubl's 16, Clarke had six players finish in double figures including 15 off the bench from Taylor Haase, 11 from both Giana Michels and Emma Kelchen, then 10 from Nicole McDermott and Mya Merschman.

CU's defense was able to hold the Vikings to a 31.7 percent field goa percentage as they also only went 2-for-18 from three point range and turned the ball over 19 times.

Pride women's basketball will continue their short three-game road trip with a matchup at Mount Mercy University next Thursday at 5:30 p.m. CT in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
