May earns All-Heart Honorable Mention for Pride men's volleyball
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Following the conclusion of the 2026 regular season on Tuesday evening, the Heart of America Athletic Conference announced their Men's Volleyball All Conference selections on Friday afternoon with Clarke University senior Tanner May receiving Honorable Mention honors.
May, a middle blocker from San Diego, Calif., shined in his second season as a member of the Pride to produce significant improvements in every stat category and most importantly the stats that primarily relate to success in the middle starting with improving his blocking to finish the season at 88 total blocks, 62 block assists, and 26 solo blocks for a 0.91 blocks per set average.
On the offensive side of a middle blocker's responsibility was also a strong suit for May in the 2026 campaign as he produced 263 kills and a .390 hitting percentage, booting those numbers by 104 kills and .075 percentage points to produce a 333-point season combining his kills, blocks, and 13 service aces.
That .390 hitting percentage finishes at the fourth-best hitting percentage in a season by any member of Clarke men's volleyball dating back to 1995, slotting just behind former CU middles as Stephen Lewandowski (2020-2024) and Matt Gagner (2015-18) hold the top three marks as the only seasons above .400 among qualified players in program history.
May nearly bookended his season with the best offensive performances of his career, starting the 2026 season at home against Viterbo with a career-high 17 kills on 20 attempts with just one error for a .800 hitting percentage to help lead the Pride to a five-set win over the V-Hawks in the Kehl Center only to do one kill better on Senior Day when he produced his new and final career-high with 18 kills on 24 swings with two errors for a .667 hitting percentage in a Clarke win over Culver-Stockton.
Finishing his two-year tenure with the Pride after transferring to Clarke from Grossmont Community College, May's stats closed out at 422 kills, a .361 hitting percentage, 137 total blocks, and 521 points scored to averaged 2.5 kills per set, 0.81 blocks per set, and 3.1 points per set.
