Pride men's golf begins busy week at St. Francis Invite
PLAINFIELD, Ill. – In their second even of the fall season, the Clarke University men's golf team wrapped up the St. Francis Invite with a fourth place finish on Tuesday afternoon at Wedgewood Golf Course.
The top finisher for the Pride was Jacob Luett for the second-straight event as Luett finished one stroke better than his Clarke Fall Invite score at a 74 (+3) at Wedgewood to tie for eighth. The remainder of Clarke's top-five scorers were Logan Winn with a 79 (+8) in 21st, Alijah Dopson at 81 (+10) in 27th, and both Jesse Frye and Jared Martinson at 83 (+12) for a tie at 31st with one of those scores of 83 being dropped for CU's team score of 317.
Illinois Central College took top team spot with a 294 as Peyton Woods from ICC won the individual competition with the lone score under 70 at 69 (-2) with three players finishing at a 70 (-1) to round out the group under par for the day.
Clarke brought 10 total golfers for two teams of five as the second group was led by Anthony Eddy's 82 (+11) for a 29th place finish followed by Francis Resurreccion's 84 (+13), Hayden Hoekstra's 91 (+20), Mitchel Coffey's 92 (+21), and Preston Beels' 94 (+23) for their team score of 349.
Pride men's golf will have a few days off before a busy weekend that will begin on Friday in Galena, Ill. with their own hosted two-day Clarke Fall Classic at Eagle Ridge Resort and Spa followed by two-day Loras Invite at The Meadows in Asbury, Iowa.
