Record-setting shooting performance send Pride past Pirates
PARKVILLE, Mo. – In a game where the Clarke University men's basketball team broke the single-game record for three's made in a game with 19, the Pride would go onto defeat the Park Pirates 87-60.
A quick 5-5 start from beyond the arc would be a sign of things to come for the visiting Pride as they would jump out to an early 24-9 lead 10 minutes into the ballgame. The Pirates would crawl back within seven points, but the 22 points between Biggie Luster and Anthony Eddy would help the Pride go into the half up 42-30.
Luster finished the half with 13 points on 5-7 (71.4%) shooting and Eddy with nine points on 3-6 (50%). Augusto Hausmann and Lucas Croft kept Park in the game as they scored 11 and nine points, respectfully.
The Pride would push their lead up to 29 points in the second half, led by Luster's 27 points on an impressive 7-9 (77.7%) shooting from three. He would also add eight rebounds and five steals. Eddy would chip in five three's himself going 5-11 (45.4%) in his 17-point effort.
Sophomore, Stef Vasic would go onto having one of his best games of the year as he finished with 10 points on 3-4 (75%) shooting from deep in eight minutes of action. Chris Burnell, Lajarrion Spinks, Demarcus Zaragoza, and Will White would all make one three-pointer to help break the record of 19 three's made in a single-game.
"I'm happy for our guys today because they took the road less traveled," head coach Jim Blaine said, "The ball was singing and we were creating great shot after great shot. The guys earned this one."
Hausmann and Croft were the only Park players in double-figures as they finished with 15 and 17 points, respectfully.
The Pride men's basketball team will play their second-straight road game in Missouri on February 1st, when they'll take on Culver-Stockton in Canton for a 7:30 pm CST tip.
