Eddy's 38 Points Lead Pride Passed Viterbo University

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Coming off a weekend where they went 1-1, the Clarke University men's basketball team were able to improve to 4-1 on the season after a 94-87 win over Viterbo University.

VU made their first eight shots on their way to a 22-8 run to start the game, but the Pride would go on a 12-4 run of their own to cut the lead down to 26-20 with 11 minutes left in the first half. VU would push their lead up to ten points after a Garret Locy made jumper made it 36-26 with seven minutes left in the first half. The Pride would finish the half on a 17-5 run to lead 43-41.

The conference player of the week, Jacob Fierst had a strong first half and finished with 17 points and six rebounds. Anthony Eddy had chipped in 10 and was 2-6 from three.

The Pride were 3-4 from deep to start the second half, which would be a sign of things to come. There would be multiple lead changes throughout the remainder of the game, but VU wouldn't be able to withstand the barrage of three's that the Pride's Anthony Eddy would rain down for the rest of the evening. Eddy and the Pride would build their lead up to as much as 11 points twice in the second half, most of which would come off of the senior guard's shot. Eddy finished the game with 38 points on 8-13 from deep, which ties the school record for the most three-pointers in one game.

When asked about the early run that VU went on, Coach Jim Blaine explained, "When Viterbo took it to us early and we stayed the course, guys stayed together and trusted each one another. Guys are builiding trust with each other and parking their egos at the door. Should give us confidence moving forward."

The Pride would have three other players finish the game in double-figures as Fierst finished with 24, Daquon Lewis had 13, and Lajarrion Spinks had 11. The Pride shot 53% from the floor and 48% from deep.

The Clarke University men's basketball team will play Friday, November 18th at 7 pm CST against Emmaus Bible College in the Kehl Center.
