Pride complete SAU meet with 16 top three finishes

DAVENPORT, Iowa – On a windy day at St. Ambrose University, the Clarke University men's and women's track and field team completed the day with 16 top three finishes, including eight first place finishes.

Allena Rowland had herself a pair of first place finishes starting with the women's 400-meter hurdles. She crossed the finish line in 1:08.55. She was also on the first place 4x400 meter relay also consisting of Isabelle Matthews, Emma Terwische, and Gwen Bottom that finished in 4:27.54. Rowland would also go on to finish third in the 400-meter race and break the school record with a time of 59.38.

 It was a successful day for the women distance runners as Rory Bickler came away with a first place finish in the women's 5000-meter race with a time of 19:36.32 and third in the women's 800-meter with a mark of 2:32.47. Lydia Radeke grabbed a fifth-place finish in the 800 with a time of 2:49.92.

The Pride had a pair of winners in the 3000-meter steeplechase as Jaycie Franco finished in 12:42.67 on the women's side and Kole Haverly at 10:47.92 on the men's side. Bryce Kondos finished in second with a time of 11:09.31.

The men's side would also come out on top in their 4x400 meter relay as the team consisting of James Vandun, Brody Deitering, Carson Sansenbach, and Josh Musonda finished in 3:39.94.

Emmett Schwartzhoff won the 5000-meter race in a time of 16:08.27 and Sansenbach took third in the men's 800.

There was four top three finishes in the men's jumping events as Tyler Kell won the men's high jump with a mark of 1.98 meters. Elijah Douglas and Vandun each took second in their respective events. Douglas in the triple jump reached 12.93 meters. Vandun long jumped 6.53 meters and Deitering took third in the same event with a 6.02-meter jump.
