Rowland continues hot start for Pride as Heart Women's Track Athlete of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - In an already notable beginning to her Clarke University track and field career, Allena Rowland can add Heart of America Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week to her early tenure at CU.

Rowland was named Heart Women's Track Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Fighting Bee Invitational this past weekend as she earned a win in the 400-meter dash and a second place finish in the 800-meter run.

In the 400, Rowland set a new school record and hit the B Standard NAIA Qualifying time with her 58.63 time to win the race that was 22 athletes deep as she also posted a 2:22.66 in the 800 for the second place finish in the 28-person field.

Rowland opened her Clarke career a week prior by setting a new school record in the 600-meter run with a 1:39.18 at the Moco Mercer Open at University of Dubuque as she now holds two records at Clarke while being a Pride student-athlete for about three weeks.

The Clarke track and field teams will continue their indoor season over the next two weeks with their last two indoor meets of the season starting this Saturday at the Tadd Metzger Invite and Multi in Kenosha, Wis.
