Pride wrap up competition at Fighting Bee Invite with multiple record breaking performances
DAVENPORT, Iowa – Competing for the third weekend in as many weeks, the Clarke University track and field team were able to get three individual event wins at the Fighting Bee Invitational.
Winning the 3000-meter race walk and breaking the school-record was sophomore Polk City native, Noah Church who completed the race in a time of 14:06.60.
Celebrating another school record was freshman Allena Rowland who won the 400-meter dash with an NAIA B Standard time of 58.63, defeating the previous record by over two seconds. Rowland also finished in second place in the 800-meter race finishing with a time of 2:22.66, which would also place her second in school history.
The last individual winner for the Pride was another Freshman, Tyler Kell, winning the men's high jump clearing 1.90 meters
Also performing well for Clarke men's jumpers was freshman Elijah Douglas, who placed in second place in the men's triple jump with a jump of 12.61 meters, which helped get the Pride eight team points.
For Clarke women's jumpers, Emma Terwische would place in fifth in the women's triple jump by leaping 10.23 meters, which would be good for sixth all-time in the record books. Sophomore Sydney Norman and freshman Isabelle Mathhews finished in third and sixth in the women's high jump, leaping 1.50 meters and 1.45 meters.
Finishing in second place for the 600-meter run was freshman Carson Sansenbach, who crossed the finish line in 1:25.42, giving the Pride eight team points.
Continuing to be a strength for the Pride, both the men and women pole vaulters would have top three finishers as James Vandun cleared 4.02 meters, putting him in third place. Timothy Miller also gave CU team points by finishing in fifth after making it over 3.72 meters.
Coming off her first-place finish, Grace Squires beat her mark last weekend as she was able to vault 3.42 meters, which earned her an NAIA B standard and was good for second place. Emma Grant and Autumn McLaughlin also finished in the top five, as Grant finished in third with 3.27 meters and McLaughlin 2.97 meters.
