Pride's upset win leads to Krapfl's second-straight Heart Defender of the Week
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Coming off of a history victory on Friday, the Clarke Unviersity women's soccer team will have their second-straight weekly honor in the Heart of America Athletic Conference with junior goalkeeper Faith Krapfl earning Defender of the Week after also doing so last week.
Krapfl was able to make six saves in the Pride's upset victory over No. 19 MidAmerica Nazarene University as the Peosta, Iowa native was close to recording her fifth-straight shutout as the lone goal she allowed was on a rebound of a one-on-one save she had made on the first attempt in the second half of CU's 3-1 win over the Pioneers.
With that victory, Clarke positioned themselves in a second place tie in the Heart standings as they currently hold 10 points with their 3-0-1 record, only trailing 4-0 Benedictine and tied for second place with Missouri Valley, who they drew 0-0 with on Saturday, Sept. 21.
Following the six-save performance on Friday, Krapfl's season stats in net now sit at 30 saves on 35 shots on goal against over 10 games for a 0.52 goals against average and a .857 save percentage, both the best marks in the Heart so far into the 2024 season.
Clarke women's soccer will play on the road next when they travel to Culver-Stockton College on Wednesday, Oct. 2 for a 5:00 p.m. CT kickoff against the Wildcats before returning home for three-straight home games at Burrows Field.
