Krapfl earns Heart Defensive Player of the Week after back-to-back shutouts

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - For the first time in the 2024-25 athletic season, a Clarke University student-athlete has been named as the Heart of America Athletic Conference Player of the Week as women's soccer's junior goalkeeper Faith Krapfl received Defensive Player of the Week honors on Monday afternoon, Heart officials announced.

This is the second time in Krapfl's career that she has received Heart Defensive Player of the Week, also receiving the honor back during her freshman season of 2022 on October 31 of that season.

Currently on a run of four-straight shutouts recorded, Krapfl earns this weekly honor after posting clean sheets against William Penn University on Sept. 18 then setting a new season-high in saves in a 0-0 draw against No. 23 Missouri Valley on Sept. 21.

Only needing to make three saves in the Pride's 5-0 win over the Statesmen, Krapfl was tested early against the Vikings on home turf on Saturday as MVC's leading scorer, Ashley Arribas, was fed open on a nice through ball behind the defense but Krapfl was quick to react, coming off of her line to make a sliding stop on the ball to keep the game scoreless less than four minutes in.

So far on the season, the Peosta, Iowa native has played all but about 35 minutes of the action in net for CU as she's posted five individual shutouts and a combined shutout while making 24 total saves on 28 shots on goal against for a .857 save percentage and a 0.47 goals against average.

Krapfl and the Clarke women's soccer team will be away from action until they kick off Homecoming Weekend this Friday afternoon when they welcome MidAmerica Nazarene University to Burrows Field for a 3:30 p.m. CT start against the Pioneers.
