Pride fall in Heart Tournament Quarterfinals 2-0

MARSHALL, Mo. – The Clarke University women's soccer team was defeated 2-0 against Missouri Valley College in the Heart Conference Tournament Quarterfinals on Saturday evening.

The Vikings were able to get a goal in each half, starting in the sixth minute when Ashley Arribas was fouled in the goal box and was awarded a penalty shot. She was able to convert for her team-leading 17th goal of the year.

The Pride would remain down a goal until the 84th minute when Marta Carrasco Mesa assisted on Viktoria Einsbor's seventh goal of the season.

The Pride's offense averaged just under 17 shots a game coming into the contest and had a difficult time getting quality looks or shots at the credit of Missouri Valley's defense. The Pride were credited with three shots, with none of them requiring a save.

Taking two of the three shots was recent All-Heart Third Team nominee Shannon Catchur and the other shot was credited to Laryssa Pritchard.

Pride goalkeeper April Lashomb had a much different experience in the net, as opposed to Vikings keeper Lola Benitez as she made four saves in all 90 minutes of gameplay.

The Clarke University women's soccer season ends with an overall record of 10-6-3 and a conference record of 5-5-1 as they'll look to make the Heart Conference Tournament for the ninth straight season in 2024.
