Pride score in each half to beat Grand View 2-0

DUBUQUE, Iowa – After losing their first game of the season on Friday evening 1-0, the Clarke University women's soccer team bounced back with a 2-0 victory over Grand View University Tuesday on their home turf.

Leading the team in shots for the game with four, Samantha Rodriguez scored her first goal since the season opener back on Aug. 17th to give the Pride the 1-0 lead just 10 minutes into the contest.

The score would remain 1-0 into the second half and once again CU would hold the opposition to minimal scoring opportunities, having a 10-4 shot edge after 45 minutes.

Clarke's starting goalie, April Lashomb didn't need to make a save until the 81st minute of the game and it would be the only save she would need to improve her record to 7-1-1.

Finding herself in the right spot, Bailey Wiemann buried her fifth goal on the season off assists from Morgan Catchur and Juanita Tibocha to give the Pride a 2-0 cushion at the 74' mark.

Facing 18 shots, Grand View goalkeeper Maya Fritz made five saves in the loss.

The Pride women's soccer team will travel to Olathe, Kan. For an Oct. 7th matchup against MidAmerica Nazarene University beginning at 1:00 P.M. CST.
