Benedictine College hand Pride their first loss of 2023

DUBUQUE, Iowa – To kick off homecoming weekend the Ravens of Benedictine College handed the Clarke University Pride women's soccer team their first loss of 2023 after a 1-0 final score Friday evening at Burrows Field.

After outshooting the Pride 9-8 in the first half, the Ravens got on the board in the 49th minute when Nacogdoches, Texas native Rebecca Slaten scored at an awkward angle from the side of the net for her first on the season.

Earlier in the first half, Clarke had two golden opportunities off the feet of Shannon Catchur and Kaci Hunter that were turned away at the hands of Benedictine's goalkeeper, Mackenzie Korzenecki. Korzenecki, would go onto earn her seventh win and make seven stops.

Facing the most shots she has all season, Clarke keeper April Lashomb finished the game with eight shots.

The final tally in shots ended with a 22-17 Ravens advantage and a 6-2 corner kick edge.

The Pride will be home Oct. 3rd to play Grand View University beginning at 5:30 P.M. CST.
