Pride remain unbeaten after a 4-1 victory over Graceland

LAMONI, Iowa – The Clarke University women's soccer team (6-0-2) opened their Heart of America Conference play with a 4-1 victory over Graceland University Saturday afternoon after a pair of goals in each half.

Scoring her third goal of the year, senior defender Hope Ward scored just 41 seconds into the contest. Not long after (4:33), fellow senior Bailey Wiemann found the back of the net, also tallying her third on the year to give CU the quick 2-0 lead.

Cutting the lead in half at the 76th-minute mark for the Yellowjackets, junior Emily Carmen scored her fourth goal of the year. Unfortunately for GU, less than two minutes later, any momentum they had was halted by Clarke midfielder Jaycee Page scoring her second goal of the season, which gave CU back their two-goal lead.

In the 83rd minute, Pride attacker Shannon Catchur put Graceland away with her fifth goal on the season and second straight game with a tally.

Starting her sixth game in a row in net, Clarke goalkeeper April Lashomb picked up her fourth victory and finished the day with zero saves.

Alexia Johnson, the Yellowjacket goalkeeper, started her eighth game in a row, finishing the game with two saves.

Mostly dominating the scoresheet in every game this year, today's matchup was no different, as the Pride held a 10-2 shot edge and a 5-0 corners advantage.

Pride women's soccer will host William Penn on Tuesday, September 19th beginning at 5:30 pm.
