Faith Krapfl earns first career Player of the Week honor in final week of recognition

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - With the Clarke University women's soccer team finishing the 2022 regular season on a four-game winning streak, the Heart of America Athletic Conference announced that Pride freshman goalkeeper Faith Krapfl earned the Defensive Player of the Week honor on Monday afternoon.

Krapfl has been CU's starting goalkeeper for the last six games as last week she played all 90 minutes in each of the Pride's wins by a 1-0 score over Grand View and 3-1 in the finale against at Park. 

The Peosta, Iowa native combined to make eight saves in total over the two games, four in each, while also producing her first career collegiate shutout in that 1-0 result over the Vikings.

On the season, Krapfl has a 5-2 record out of the seven games she was the goalie of record for in her nine games played as she touts a 1.61 goals against average while having made 45 saves in 672 total minutes played over those nine games.

She is the second member of the Clarke women's soccer team to earn Defensive Player of the Week honors after center back Hope Ward also received the honor on Oct. 17 and is the fourth player overall to receive a weekly honor from the Heart as both Genevieve Cruz and Reese Castanon earned Offensive Player of the Week earlier on in the year with Cruz receiving the distinguishment twice this seaeson.

Krapfl and the Pride will now gear up for the Heart of America Tournament, which is scheduled to start this Friday for Clarke as they are unofficially slated to go on the road to take on Benedictine College as official seeding will be released following tonight's makeup contest between Central Methodist and Mount Mercy, which wraps up the regular season in full in the Heart.
