DUBUQUE, Iowa – After scoring ten goals in the previous two games, the Clarke University women's soccer team were able to pull out a 1-0 win over Grand View University.
The score remained scoreless for the entire first half, but the best opportunity of the half came from GVU's Jayden Cross who hit the crossbar in the 26th minute. The Pride were given three yellow cards in the first half and were trailing in shots 7-4.
The second half started with a goalie change for GVU as junior Gabby Burman took over for sophomore Trinity Engelhardt. The Pride took advantage of the switch and scored in the 48th minute when Emma Kanne found Genevieve Cruz racing towards the goal and scored her 12th of the season to break the ice.
Cruz had an opportunity shortly after the goal and led the Pride in shots with four, with three of them making it to the net. The Pride had a majority of the scoring chances after only mustering two shots on goal in the first half. They were able to finish the game with eight shots, with six reaching the net.
Faith Krapfl got her fifth consecutive start in net and made all four stops to improve her goals-against-average to under two goals a game and picked up her fourth career victory.
The Clarke women's soccer team will prepare for their final game of the season in Parkville, Mo. to face Park University on Saturday, October 29th for a 12 pm start.
