SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Clarke University women's soccer defeated their conference foe, Evangel University 5-1 on Saturday afternoon to advance their record to 9-5-1 (5-4 in conference).
EU was able to get on the board first five minutes into the contest when senior Sophie Boyer shot it just out of the reach of the Pride keeper on the short side.
The Pride would kick off the scoring two minutes later when junior Hope Ward shot one from deep that found its way passed EU's keeper, Delaney Thomas.
At 17:54 on the scoreboard, Pride freshman Laryssa Pritchard found senior Genevieve Cruz who then beat a defender and scored her team leading seventh goal on the season. A few minutes later, Shannon Catchur would score twice in over a minute of action to give the Pride a 4-1 lead going into half.
The first half stats were lop-sided with the Pride having a 5-1 edge on corner kicks and a 12-3 advantage on shots.
The Pride wouldn't let up in the second half either as they had a few solid scoring chances that eventually led to Cruz's second goal of the game in the 65th minute that put the Pride up 5-1.
Faith Krapfl got the start in net for the third straight game and faced four shots with only the Valor's goal going on net.
Cruz and Catchur both led the way with 3 shots and the Pride outshot EU 19-4.
