Humphrey, Lawrence lead Pride to 21-1 win over Missouri Valley in season finale

MARSHALL, Mo. – Combining for a total of 16 points, Alyssa Humphrey and Jocelyn Lawrence helped the Clarke University women's lacrosse team thrash the Missouri Valley Vikings 21-1 in their season finale Saturday afternoon.

Humphrey on the day would score six goals and assists on two, finishing her 2023 season with 34 goals and five assists. Lawrence scored four goals and assisted on four, improving her season totals to 16 goals and 10 assists.

The Pride's second leading goal and points leader, Emily Moran would get in on the scoring action herself, as she found the net three times. Moran's junior season closes out with 29 goals and four assists.

Coming into today's game, the most goals Clarke has scored in one quarter this year was four, but in the first quarter today the ladies were able to score 10 times, taking advantage of a shorthanded Missouri Valley group.

Angel Jenkins, Camryn Cox, and Laney Thumser all scored their first goals of the season. Sarah Kile and Mary Engelkens each scored their second of the year.

Jazzlyn Adams scored five points as she had one goal and four assists.

Almost getting the shutout in net was Jaylah Rayford as she played all 60 minutes and made five saves.

The box score numbers are fairly lopsided towards the Pride including a 20-5 draw control advantage and a 38-8 shot advantage.

The Pride women's lacrosse program will attempt to make a step forward in 2024 after a good first season under Irene Carlquist.
