Pride offense stalls as William Penn runs away with 15-5 win
OSKALOOSA, Iowa - Getting back to Heart of America Athletic Conference play, the Clarke University women's lacrosse team dropped a 15-5 road tilt to William Penn University on Saturday afternoon.
The Statesmen were able to put up multi-goal quarters in all four periods as they opened with a 3-0 first quarter then put up a four spot in each of the following periods to outscore CU in each quarter on their way to the 10-goal victory.
William Penn's duo of Bailee Royal and MacKenzie Peterson combined for 11 of their team's 15 goals with Royal scoring seven times on 10 shot attempts while Peterson added four goals on the day.
The Pride's offensive combination of Aylssa Humphrey and Emily Moran combined to score all five of Clarke's goals but Humphrey was also saved on five of her eight shots on goal as WPU goalie Madison Reed made nine saves in the game.
Clarke women's lacrosse will return home for their final game at Burrows Field of the 2023 season when they host Culver-Stockton College for another Heart matchup with Wednesday night for a 4:00 p.m. CT scheduled opening draw.
