Clarke Drops Season Opener at La Crosse, 20-4

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Pride got two goals from Alyssa Humphrey, but it wasn't enough in a 20-4 non-conference loss to UW-La Crosse in the season-opener Tuesday at Veterans Memorial Field.

The Eagles (1-1) scored the first four goals of the game and never trailed. The Pride got on the board after Jocelyn Lawrence scored with 52 seconds to play in the first quarter to trim the deficit to three but could never get any closer.

Humphrey scored each of her goals unassisted, with the pair coming during the third quarter of the match. Her first came with 6:28 to play, while her second hit the back of the net nearly two minutes later with 4:35 left in the quarter.

Emily Moran scored her 51st goal as a member of the Pride unassisted at 7:53 in the second quarter. The Pride played Mars Beimert (60:00, 20 GA, 12 SV) in goal for the entirety of the match.

Nine different Eagle players scored with Nicole Jernander's five leading the way. Lauren Schwartz and Megan Feeney had four goals each, while Kiersten Pelletier added in two. Anna Reifschneider, Hannah Gronkowski, Madison Buttweiler, Kaley Hendrick, and Grace Wilmott all scored one apiece.

The Pride (0-1) will shift gears and prep for the program's home-opener against William Penn on Thursday, Mar. 10. Game time is set for 4 p.m. The Statesmen (2-4) won its first two matches of the year before dropping the next four-straight games.
