Pride golf wraps up Loras Tri-State Classic

ASBURY, Iowa - A Monday round locally at The Meadows Golf Course in Asbury that saw the Clarke University golf teams end a long stretch of golf for the men and get the women's team back on the course for the first time in about a week in a half as the men finished in sixth place while the women posted a fifth place finish at the Loras Tri-State Classic.

The Pride men were once again led by a strong performance from Jacob Luett as he finished in third place with a 78-70=148 for his second-straight tournament collecting hardware for CU after winning the Clarke Fall Classic on Saturday in Galena.

The rest of Clarke's top group saw both Jesse Frye and Logan Winn improve on first round scores in their second round at The Meadows with Frye finishing 83-79=162 and Winn going 89-84=173 while Alijah Dopson (79-84=164) and Jared Martinson (84-94=178) finished off the top-five scoring.

The women's team for CU saw five of the seven individuals improve their scores from day one to day two of the tournament as Halle Boldt led the way on both days with her 116-109=225. Maddie Patten, Jessi Wagner, Katherine Whitson, and Maya England all shot at least five strokes lower in round two than round one as both Wagner and England improved by 10 or more strokes with Allea Stone and Camdyn Penick rounding out the team scoring as England and Whitson participated as individuals in the field.

The remainder of the men's scoring was led by Anthony Eddy's 82-79=161 to finish tied for 19th along with Frye, with Francis Resurreccion (90-91=181), Mitchel Coffey (94-88=182), Hayden Hoekstra (97-94=191), and Preston Beels (95-100=195) closing out that B squad scoring as Alex Beard posted a 102-93=195 as an individual.

Clarke golf will next compete in a match play event in New Glarus, Wis. at Edelweiss Chalet Country Club this Thursday wtih both the men's and women's teams competing in a match play format against NAIA opponents.
