Pride bowling wraps up regular season against large field at Hoosier Classic
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - In their biggest tournament of their regular season tuning up for the Heart Championships, the Clarke University bowling teams wrapped up regular seeason play at the Hoosier Classic last weekend.
Between the men's and women's teams the Pride went 10 total bowlers down to Indianapolis as seven finished in the top half of fields that consisted of 588 total individuals for the men and 460 for the women.
Overall, the highest pins per game average came from the women's side as Kassidy Gerken finished with a 186.5 average over her six games, which was just four pins better than the 182.5 finish from Jordan Gorgas on the men's side as Gerken finished with 1119 total pins and Gorgas totaled 1095.
Just being Gorgas on the men's side was Shane Jordan's six-game total pin count of 1045 for a 174.17 pins average as the only other member of the men's side to bowl all six individual games. The other three competitors for the Pride women all bowled in every game as Zoe Schultz finished over 1000 total pins at 1021 for a 170.17 average, Stephanie Thompson ended her six games with a 162.33 and Emma Clancy finished at a 148.17 average.
The men saw Landen Freismuth and Adante Jones score for 179.6 and 177.20 respective five-game averages, and Caden Bainbridge and Mannix Amos score 160.25 and 155.25 four-game averages. The highest scoring single game came from Freismuth, who bowled a 253 in the third team/individual game as Gerken's first game of 222 was the highest on the ladies' side.
Clarke bowling will now prepare for the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships this Saturday and Sunday that will be hosted by William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
