Sam Scott joins the Clarke University women's basketball staff as the lead assistant in the summer of 2026 after spending the 2025-26 season as a graduate assistant at Briar Cliff University.

While serving as the GA for the Chargers, Scott assisted the BCU women's basketball varsity team that went 19-11 overall and 13-9 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference while earning a bid to the NAIA National Tournament along with serving as the JV head coach where that team finished with 2025-26 season 8-6 in their 14 games.

Her specific roles at Briar Cliff included aiding in recruiting by setting up the locker room for visits, executing phone calls, text messages, leading campus tours, and traveling to high school games to watch recruits in person as she also tracked player stats during practices and games, led scout team prep during practices by running offensive sets, breaking down defensive strategies, scouting player personnel, and scouting out of bounds plays.

After her playing career, Scott participated in the Women's Basketball Coaches' Association (WBCA) "So You Want To Be A Coach" program that supports female collegiate basketball players interested in coaching careers by providing professional development, skills enhancement, networking, and exposure opportunities, while increasing awareness of talented female players who aspire to coach.

That playing career included spending her first season at Colorado Mesa University before transferring to Central College for her final three seasons where she played in 76 games, compiling 51 starts over that time to average 7.0 points per game, 2.6 rebounds, per game, 1.0 assists per game, and 0.7 steals per game, all while serving as a team captain in her senior season.

Her sophomore season for the Dutch saw her average her most minutes per game and points per game at 29.2 and 7.6 respectively while her best shooting season came as a senior where she shot 39.0 percent from three point range and 42.8 percent from the field.

Scott graduated Central with her Bachelors in K-12 Physical Education and Health then completed her Masters in Sports Management at Briar Cliff.
