Pride women's basketball sweeps Heart Players of the Week to start 2025

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Coming off of standout performances for both of these Clarke University women's basketball players, sophomore Zoe Kennedy and freshman Reese Ryan were named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week respectively on Monday afternoon.

Kennedy had an all-time performance in terms of the history of Pride women's basketball, recording the program's first triple-double since the 2017-18 season when she put up a game-high 27 points while adding a school record tying 16 assists and grabbing 10 rebounds in a 91-81 win over Peru State College on Saturday.

The Cedar Rapids, Iowa native put thrust into primary ball handler duties on Saturday due to injury to put up those 16 assists while also shooting 7-for-14 (50%) from the field and a perfect 13-for-13 from the free throw line as she started the week off with an 11-point performance on Thursday in a 64-61 road win at Park.

Ryan, a freshman from Lodi, Wis., also saw her role increase to start the new year coming off the bench to finish the game at Park with five rebounds and a blocked shot before seeing a significant increase in minutes on Saturday to finish with a double-double at 16 points and 12 rebounds.

With that performance, Ryan became the first true freshman to record a double-double for the Pride since the 2020-21 season as she also added a pair of blocked shots with 11 of her 12 rebounds coming on the defensive end.

Pride women's basketball is in action tonight, making up their originally scheduled game against Grand View from November with a 6:00 p.m. CT scheduled tip in Des Moines, Iowa.
