Norris scores 17 points in 71-61 victory over Benedictine
ATCHISON, Kan. – Winning by double-digits for the fourth time in five games, the fourth-ranked Clarke University women's basketball team defeated Benedictine College
The Ravens battled throughout the game as they found themselves down only five points at 48-43 with less than three minutes to go in the third quarter, but the Pride would go on a 15-6 run flowing almost halfway through the first quarter to take back control the rest of the way.
The five-point deficit would be as close as the Ravens would get all game as the Pride jumped all over the Ravens after the opening tip starting the game off on a 16-5 run, but would battle back to pull within six points at halftime thanks to a 16-9 run to over the final eight minutes of the second quarter.
Taylor Haase was aggressive in the post leading to a 10-12 (83.3%) day at the free-throw stripe on her way to an 18-point performance to lead all scorers. Mya Merschman secured her second double-double of the year as she went 5-9 (55.5%) shooting leading to 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in 38 minutes of play.
Coming into today's contest, junior Taylor Norris was averaging just over eight point-per-game off the bench, but today she broke out for her career-high in a Pride uniform with 17 points on 6-9 (66.7%) shooting from the floor and 3-4 (75%) shooting from three. Her previous career high came in the season opener on Nov. 1st in St. Ambrose where she scored 15 points in 20 minutes of work.
The leading scorer on BC was Alleigh Kramer who scored 10 points on 4-8 (50%) shooting and was 1-4 (25%) from deep. Forward Jennifer Jacobs and reserve player Nicole Storck each scored nine points apiece in a balanced box score.
The Pride will take a break from conference play and take on Columbia College on Tuesday, Nov. 21st beginning at 5:30 p.m. CT.
