Pride suffer setback at No. 6 William Penn
OSKALOOSA, Iowa - Coming off of their first win in the Heart of America Athletic Conference last Saturday, the Clarke University men's volleyball team had a tough go of it on the road against No. 6 William Penn University on Tuesday night to the tune of a 3-0 loss in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
The Pride couldn't get to the 20-point total in any of the three sets and struggled from an offensive efficiency standpoint in the final two sets, which led to WPU earning 25-14, 25-12, and 25-19 set wins on their way to a sweep for their sixth win of the season and third in conference play.
After hitting .190 in the first set with seven kills and only three errors on the attack, CU hit for a negative hitting percentage in the next two sets, combining for 21 errrors and just 13 kills over 49 swings to finish the match with a -.057 team hitting percentage with 24 attacking errors and only 20 kills compared to the Statemen hitting for a team percentage of .324 with only nine errors and 31 kills on 68 attempts.
Tying for the match-high for kills by an individual in the match was Clarke freshman Micah Dancy, who had six kills on 13 attempts with just one error for a .385 hitting percentage while adding a block assist and two digs with fellow freshman Nolan Amdur right behind him at five kills on just three swings for a .250 hitting percentage while adding a team-high six digs, a solo block, and block assist.
