Pride drop three set match at Culver-Stockton
CANTON, Mo. - Coming off of a tough battle against one of the top teams in the NAIA, the Clarke University men's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 match to Culver-Stockton College on the road on Saturday afternoon.
The Wildcats took each of the three sets by slimmer and slimmer margins as the match went on but still pulled out the sweep by set scores of 25-16, 25-22, and 25-23 behind a team hitting percentage of .345 where they finished with 14 kills in each set.
Both teams leader in kills had 10 as Justin Hernandez for the Pride had 10 kills for the second-straight match while also leading the team with three total blocks, a solo block and two block assists, while CSC's Clyde Harold had 10 kills on just 18 swings for a .444 hitting percentage and adding seven digs on the defensive end.
With Culver-Stockton having three members of the attack at nine, eight, and seven kills, CU's offensive support behind Hernandez included a nine-kill match from Tanner May, a 6-for-9 performance from Anthony Ramirez, then a pair of efficient four-kill matches from both setter Benjamin Reiser and middle Michael Pettke with Pettke scoring five points in just one set and Reiser finishing at 21 assists.
Pride men's volleyball will play one more match in the 2025 regular season when they travel to Cedar Rapids, Iowa next Tuesday, April 8 for a 7:00 p.m. CT match against Mount Mercy University.
