Pride suffer three-set loss to No. 8 Park

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Looking to shake off a tough defeat from the night prior, the Clarke University men's volleyball team couldn't turn the tides to the side of victory on Saturday afternoon in a 3-0 loss to No. 8 Park University.

The Pirates executed at an offensive efficiency level of the elite teams in the NAIA, finishing with a .582 team hitting percentage with only six errors on the attack, finishing all three sets with no more than three errors as they hit .714 in the first to win 25-17, .556 in the second to win 25-14, and .438 in the third to win 25-13.

Clarke's attack had a solid showing in the first set but struggled to maintain any consistency to their .148 team hitting percentage led by a 5-for-8 (.625) day from Daniel Beodya with no errors while both Zachary Barr and Michael Pettke finished with four kills each as Barr only had one error to finish at a .400 hitting percentage.

Park's Leonardo Maldonado led all players with 11 kills as Nicolas Tenius had nine kills on 11 swings with no errors, Mihailo Ivanovic had eight kills with one error, Joao Infante had six kills, and Carston Wellong had four kills on the four swings he took in the match.

The Pride will be back on the Kehl Center floor for their next match when they host William Penn University on Tuesday, Mar. 26 for a 7:00 p.m. CT first serve against the Statesmen.
