Pride suffer sweep defeat to Missouri Baptist

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Coming off of a hard fought five-set match the night prior, the Clarke University men's volleyball team fell 3-0 to Missouri Baptist University on Saturday afternoon in St. Louis.

The Pride struggled offensively, hitting for a negative hitting percentage as a team over the three sets as Stephen Lewandowski, Paulo Simon, and Zachary Barr were the only CU players to finish above .000 from on the hitting percentage side with Lewandowski finishing 4-for-7 with three errors, Simon going 3-for-8 with an error, and Barr going 2-for-6 with one error.

On their way to the 25-10, 25-19, 25-19 set wins, Auston Bonte led the way for the Spartans with 10 kills while Sam Goedde added seven kills part of setter David Rudic's 28 assists while Jake Richardson finished with seven digs to lead the way for MBU.

Along with Missouri Baptist getting points on the combined 37 CU errors on the attack and serve, part of Clarke's offensive struggles came from a strong defensive effort from the Spartans as they finished with 31 digs and nine total blocks as a team.

Clarke men's volleyball will stay in the St. Louis area for one more match on Monday at noon when they face Maryville University in a non-conference match.
