Pride fall 3-0 to No. 13 Missouri Valley

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Celebrating their seniors for their final Saturday home match of the season, Clarke University dropped their Senior Day match 3-0 to No. 13 ranked Missouri Valley College in the Kehl Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Pride honored senior Michael Jenkins and shouted out fifth-year senior Montez Thompson, who was fully honored last season, prior to their final Saturday match of their final seasons at Clarke.

In the match, the Vikings were able to have a strong offensive performance behind their 25-18, 25-21, and 25-12 sweep of CU to move to a 12-7 overall record and 6-6 inside of the Heart.

Offensively, MVC hit for a .468 team hitting percentage with only nine errors on 77 attacks with the Pride finishing at .075 in the match with 20 errors on 67 total swings on the attack.

Jenkins had a strong performance for the third-straight home match against a ranked foe as he led CU with 10 kills on 26 attempts with only five errors as the only member of the Pride to finish in double figures in kills.

For the Vikings, three players finished in double figures led by a match-high 14 kills from Simon Joly as he did not commit an error in the match on 19 attempts for a .737 hitting percentage. Joly was backed up on the attck by Vitor Santos, who also didn't commit an error with 11 kills on 16 attacks (.688), and Med Ilias with 10 kills on 19 swings with only three errors (.368).

Clarke men's volleyball will play their final home match of the season next Tuesday when they host Mount Mercy University for the second time this season but the first official Heart match at 7:00 p.m. CT in the Kehl Center.
