Quick start to outdoor season for Adams leads to Heart Field Athlete of the Week honor
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Coming off of their first outdoor meet of the 2024 season, the Clarke University track and field team came away with their first NAIA National Championship qualifyer, which also led to the Pride's Daniel Adams receive the Heart of America Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week.
Adams, a freshman from Muscatine, Iowa, cleared a height of 2.10 meters in the high jump last Thursday at the Central Invitational in Pella, Iowa, which surpasses the NAIA A Standard height by .05 meters to make Adams a double national qualifyer in his first season in Dubuque after qualifying for the indoor championships in the high jump as well, becoming the first freshman in program history to qualify for both NAIA Championship meets for Clarke men's track and field.
Another repeat for Adams as he notches his second Heart Field Athlete of the Week honor in his freshman season following receiving the honor during the indoor season on Feb. 12 when he hit a B Standard height to qualify for the NAIA Indoor Championships, where he would finish with a 21st place finish at a 1.97-meter clearance.
Adams and the Pride track and field squads will continue onto their next outdoor meet scheduled for Saturday, Apr. 6 when they travel to Mount Vernon, Iowa for the Cornell Invitational.
