TRACK AND FIELD RECAP: DAY TWO OF INDOOR HEART CHAMPIONSHIPS

Mason Tangen's women and men track teams continued their success during the second day of the HEART Championships today, February 10, 2018. The women's team excelled in many events.

Breanna Judkins (SO/Franklin, Wis.) was second in the 60 meter dash, running a personal best and qualifying "B" standard for Nationals with a time of 7.84 seconds. Judkins also placed eighth in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:02.36, and won the long jump with a best jump of 5.45m to hit "B" standard for Nationals. Mackenzie Williams (FR/Bolingbrook,IL) followed in sixth with a best jump of 5.23m, respectively.

Erica Carradine (SR/Chicago, Ill.) placed third in the 60 meter dash, clocking a time of 7.86 seconds.

In the 3000 meter race walk, Mariah Pellino (FR/Streator, IL) placed fourth with a time of 19:29.11. Annie Knobloch (FR/Moline, IL) followed with a seventh place finish, respectively, with a time of 23:40.67.

Chantel Kyler (JR/Shabbona, Ill.) mastered the high jump, clearing 1.65m. Breanna Judkins was second with a best mark of 1.65m. This mark qualifies Judkins "B" standard for Nationals. Judkins also placed second in the triple jump with a best jump of 11.46m, jumping a new personal best.

Emily Riesenberg (JR/West Bend, Iowa), Hannah Rehder (SR/Plainfield, Ill.), Anna Cole (SR/Kenosha, Wis.), and Lauren Block placed fourth in the distance medley with a time of 13:47.26. Rehder, Abbie Denlinger (FR), Chantel Kyler, and Breanna Judkins placed eighth in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:23.45.

Mikayla Houston dominated the weight throw with a new personal best of 17.49m, improving her "A" standard mark and placing second. Erin Soat (JR/East Dubuque, Ill.) followed with a best throw of 13.88m for a sixth place finish.

Katelynn Rheingans (JR/Eldridge, Iowa), Mikayla Houston (JR/Bolingbrook , Ill.), and Erin Soat went fourth, sixth, and eighth in the shot put, respectively, with best marks of 12.39m, 12.04m, and 12.01m.

The Pride women scored 93 points and placed fourth out of 12 teams.

In the men's events, Nick E. Anderson (SR/Clinton, Iowa) placed sixth in the 600 meter run in 1:25.42. Anderson also placed fourth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:01.56. Anderson ran with Reid Mettert (SR/Peosta, Iowa), Jimmy Slowik (FR/Downers Grove, IL), and Malik McCrary (SR/Conyers, GA.) to take seventh place in the 4x400m relay, clocking 3:35.90.

McCrary placed fifth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:01.77. McCrary also placed fifth in the 1,000 meter run with a time of 2:38.86. Ockenfels followed McCrary in sixth, running a time of 2:40.56. Ockenfels ran with Jimmy Slowik, Logan Fraker (JR/Wheaton, Ill.), and Craig Stout (SR/Doylestown, Ohio) to capture eighth place in the distance medley relay with a time of 11:27.64.

Nick Peterson (SO/Round Lake Beach, Ill.) placed second in pole vault, clearing a height of 4.60m. Danny Martin (FR/Belvidere, IL) followed Peterson with a best clearance of 3.85m to capture a fourth place finish.

Sawyer Foss (FR/Mount Morris, IL) placed sixth in the shot put with a best throw of 14.32m, respectively.

The Pride men scored 40.5 points and placed 9th out of 11 teams.

The Pride will race in their final indoor meet of the season this Friday at the University of Dubuque Spartan Invite. The meet will begin with field events at 2:00pm, followed by running events at 3 p.m.
