ATCHISON, Kan. - Playing their first true road game in their 2024 Heart of America Athletic Conference schedule, the Clarke University men's lacrosse team had a tough go against Benedictine College in a 23-1 final on Thursday evening.
The Ravens held the Pride scoreless in three of the game's four quarters while offensively scoring at least five goals in each quarter finishing the first half up 11-0 then winning the second half 12-1 with BC dominating possession, firing 50 total shots compared to just eight shot attempts for CU.
That possession advantage was due in large part to winning 75 percent of the 28 faceoffs in the game as well as the Pride committing 36 turnovers in the game compared to just 23 turnovers made by Benedictine.
Benedictine was led by a pair of four-goal scorers in the game as Liam Waldron and Brayden Hope both found the back of the net four times as Waldron added an assist to lead the game with five points while four other Ravens had multi-goal games.
Clarke's lone goal came from Justyse White as he scored off of a Matt Archer assist at the 11:47 mark of the third quarter to open the second half scoring.
Pride men's lacrosse will play their next game on the road with a non-conference matchup against Missouri Baptist in St. Louis, Mo. on Friday, Apr. 5 with a 4:00 p.m. CT scheduled opening faceoff against the Spartans.
