Tucker La Belle moves from the field to the sideline as the next head coach for Pride men’s lacrosse
DUBUQUE, Iowa - Coming off of his final season wearing the navy and gold for Clarke University men's lacrosse, Tucker La Belle has been named the next head coach of the program, Clarke Athletics and Athletic Director Curt Long announced on Wednesday morning.
La Belle will be the fifth head coach in program history as he will take over for Ryan Barnes, who steps down at the end of this school year following his three seasons as head coach for the Pride.
Over his four seasons at Clarke, La Belle became the all-time leading goal scorer in program history during his senior season of 2022 as he scored his 53rd goal on Apr. 1 against Saint Mary. He would go on to finish with 60 career goals as he had back-to-back seasons with 16 goals and one assist in 2021 and 2022 respectively and scored a career-high 20 goals in his freshman season.
La Belle also served as a volunteer coach for the Dubuque Bulldogs High School lacrosse program over the last two seasons. He has also been involved with the Iowa Dogfish, a men's senior box lacrosse team that plays out of Davenport, Iowa as La Belle was a Co-Founder and General Manager of the team.
Off the field, La Belle has been a positive and active member of the Clarke and Dubuque community, serving as Student Body President, receive Dean's List honors and earning KCAC Scholar-Athlete for his work in the classroom, served as a resident assistant in the dorms, was the Clarke Student Association Class Senator in 2019, and also worked as a student worker for Clarke Athletics working mainly as a public address announcer for various home events.
La Belle has also been a Social Media Coordinator for the Field of Dreams since 2019 after beginning his work with the Field of Dreams since 2018.
His first official day will be May 27 following the finish of classes and finals during the Spring 2022 semester as La Belle will begin his goals to grow the sport of lacrosse within Clarke University.
