Pride manage the elements for 9-7 Senior Day win over Missouri Valley
DUBUQUE, Iowa - Coming off of their first head-to-head win of the 2022 season, the Clarke University men's lacrosse team followed up with a 9-7 win over Missouri Valley College on Saturday afternoon.
Starting slightly after the scheduled start time due to the morning's snowfall, the Pride and Vikings battled through cold, wet, sloppy, and slick conditions on Burrows Field to the low scoring affair that saw no more than three goals per team each quarter.
Other than a 1-0 and brief 6-5 lead for MVC, the game was either tied or in favor of CU the majority of the contest as Conner Cole followed up his school record performance last night by either scoring or assisting on seven of the team's nine goals on the day with a four-goal, three-assist performance.
Fellow seniors Alec Kolander, Tucker La Belle, and Kurt Springli added the remaining five goals with Kolander and La Belle each netting two and Springli adding one goal on the day.
Keeping it a close game the entire way, the Vikings were led on the scoresheet by Cole Eyckelhoff's three goals and one assist as Liam Carney also score three times for Missouri Valley as Clarke goalie Kendrik Scheerer was able to make 12 saves on his 19 shots faced on the day.
Clarke men's lacrosse will play their next game on Friday, Apr. 8 when they travel to Freemont, Neb. to face Midland University for a 7:00 p.m. CT start time.
