Pride men's golf closes spring regular season at Loras Spring Invitational
ASBURY, Iowa - Staying local for their final tournament prior to the conference championship, the Clarke University men's golf team had their full team participate at the Loras Spring Invitational with the varsity team finishes at eighth place while the reserve team finished in 10th with scores of 626 and 644 respectively over the two rounds on Sunday and Monday.
Individually, Matthew Smith led the Pride with the lowest score of any member of the CU golf teams by shooting a 77 on Sunday and 76 on Monday to close out tied for 13th at 153 with Brendan Pillion and Matias Brianso close behind that at 158 and 159 respectively with Pillion shooting a second round 75 as the low round on the team.
Tying that low team round was Brayden Becker, who also posted a 75 on Monday to improve by 10 strokes from his Sunday score and post a total of 160 while Luke Schockemoehl also at 160, Peyton Roth and Caeson Clarke at 161, Tommy Eikosidekas and Cody Leon scoring 162 each, and Hayden Hoekstra rounding out the scoring at 163.
Clarke men's golf will now spend their next week-plus in preparation for the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship in Smithville, Mo. at Paradise Point Outlaw Course on Apr. 27-28.
