Pride close busy week with ninth place Verhille Invitational
IOWA CITY, Iowa - Coming off of a two-round tournament in Asbury, Iowa on Sunday and Monday, the Clarke University men's golf team went straight to Iowa City, Iowa for another two-round tournament on Tuesday and Wednesday in the Verhille Invitational at Finkbine Golf Course.
The Pride took seven competitors to the event with their five-man team lineup consisting of Jacob Luett, Jesse Frye, Logan Winn, Alijah Dopson, and Jared Martinson as the trio of Luett, Frye, and Winn all finished within two strokes of each other with Luett at 155 to tie for 21st, Frye at 156 to tie for 24th, and Winn at 157 to tie for 28th in the 72-person field.
CU's two individuals that made the trip were Francis Resurreccion and Anthony Eddy as those two and Martinson also finished within two shots of each other as Resurreccion carding a 168, Martinson finishing at 169, and Eddy having his two round total end at 170 with Dopson rounding out the Pride scoring with his 175.
Clarke men's golf will play one more round prior to the start of the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships as they'll head to Sherrard, Ill. on Monday, Apr. 22 for the Black Hawks Lake Invite.
