Pride finish middle of the pack as three place in the top-50 at Augustana Invite
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Finishing up their third tournament of the week, the Clarke University men's golf team took home a 14th place team finish at the Augustana Invite with a final two-day team score of 622 (309-313) between Friday and Saturday.
That 14th place was out of 25 total teams competing at Highland Springs Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill. as the winner was Webster as they carded a two-day total of 584 (297-287).
For the Pride Kade Salemi finished with the lowest two-day total of 150 for an 18th place finish following consistent back-to-back rounds of 75 (+3) to lead the way for CU. Right behind him were Carter Ruegseggar, who carded the lowest single round of any member of the Pride with a 74 (+2) on Friday and followed it up with a 78 (+6) on Saturday to end the tournament at 152, and Alex McLeland, who finished at 155 (77-78) to have the trio of Salemi (T18), Ruegseggar (T31), and McLeland (T45) all finish within the top-50 of the 138-person tournament.
The remainder of the team scores were provided by Francis Resurreccion's 83 on Friday and Ben Baker's 82 on Saturday as Resurreccion carded a 90 on Saturday with Baker finishing a shot behind him on Friday at 84. Both Nick Stroschein and Jared Martinson competed as individuals for CU to shoot matching scores of 164 for the tournament as Martinson went 80-84 and Stroschein bounced back after an 87 on Friday to shoot a 77 on Saturday.
Clarke men's golf will continue to cruise through their spring schedule as they'll prep for their next tournament that will take place next Tuesday in Plainfield, Ill. for the St. Francis Invite.
