KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Following the completion of the regular season, Heart of America Athletic Conference officials announced the 2023-24 men's basketball All-Conference teams as Clarke University junior guard Biggie Luster was named an All-Heart Second Team selection while also receiving All-Defense honors.
Both selection are the second-straight time Luster earned Second Team and Defensive Team selections, landing those honors in the 2022-23 season as well as the Rockford, Ill. native finished 2023-24 as the Pride's leading scorer at a career-high 14.6 points per game average while shooting 41.5 percent from the field, 30.1 percent from three point range, and 72.2 percent from the free throw line.
Luster also finished the season averaging 8.2 rebounds per game to lead CU and finish third in the Heart just 0.1 rebounds per game shy of his 2022-23 average as he also finished with a team-high 2.8 assists per game.
As a premier perimeter defender, Luster finished with the second-most steals per game average in the Heart at 2.5 steals per game, behind fellow All-Defense selection Cawhan Smith of Missouri Valley at 3.2 and MNU's Anthony Brown who was selected as the Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in the Heart for the regular season champion Pioneers.
Using his high level leaping ability and athleticism when on the defensive end, Luster also finished tied for 10th in the Heart with 0.8 blocks per game as a guard with all but Brown ahead of Luster in those rankings listed as either a forward or combo guard/forward.
Luster also earned his first career Heart Player of the Week honor on Nov. 13 after averaging 21.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game in a pair of early season contests.
Luster highlights a group of Clarke men's basketball players expected to return for the 2024-25 season after the Pride missed out on the Heart Tournament following their 7-21 (5-19 Heart) finish this season.
