Isaac Rohde's work out of the pen nabs lefty Heart Pitcher of the Week honors
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Following a big four-win weekend for the Clarke University baseball team, junior pitcher Isaac Rohde was selected as the Heart of America Athletic Conference's Pitcher of the Week, Heart officials announced on Monday afteroon.
Rohde contributed in three of the Pride's four games this past weekend as CU went 4-0 with a doubleheader sweep of Mount Marty on Saturday and a pair of wins against Morningside and Dakota State on Sunday.
The left-hander from Rice Lake, Wis. came out of the bullpen in both games against Mount Marty to throw an inning and pick up a save in their 6-3 win in the opener and picked up the save in 1.2 innings in game two's 4-1 win. He only allowed two hits and a walk in the 2.2 combined innings while striking out four of the five batters he retired in his save appearance in game two.
Rohde also picked up the win in CU's 3-1 win over Dakota State as he pitched four scoreless innings of relief with eight strikeouts and no walks while only allowing two hits in his relief appearance.
Clarke baseball will finish up their pre-Heart non-conference action at the end of this weekend into next week when they travel to Arizona to face Park-Gilbert, Arizona Christian, and Benedictine Mesa on Mar. 6-8.
