Pride Esports heads into spring postseason play after positives in regular season
The Clarke University Esports team finished the majority of their spring regular season and now are gearing up for the upcoming playoffs as the Pride had several teams qualifying for the postseason.
FIFA
The Pride FIFA roster had a strong finish to the Eastern College Athletic Conference season, with the Gold team of Tommy Rea ending in first place with an undefeated record of 8-0. After a first-round bye, the No. 1 seed Gold team will take on Bethel University (IN) this Saturday in the second round of the playoffs, looking to bring the Pride their first Esports championship. The Navy team of Dominic Pedroza fell one game short of qualifying for the postseason, finishing with a 3-5 record in 26th place overall.
Rocket League
The Pride Rocket League team had a slow start to the NACE Starleague Challenger season, but picked up their momentum and closed out their season on a three-game winning streak. The team comprised of Justyse White, Ethan Jones, Darreon Mickell, Victor Moreno, and Michael Garritano finished in the Midwest Conference with a 3-2 record in 12th place overall, falling four places short of qualifying for the postseason.
Call of Duty
The Pride Call of Duty team has one regular season match remaining in the College Call of Duty League next week against Henderson State University. Thus far, the squad of Ried Raisbeck, Michael Feliz, Diego Arenas, Samuel Swenor, and Jaydon Dennis have a 6-14 record overall between Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the CCL. The Pride have had some tough opponent all season, but still has a chance to qualify for playoffs, with the Last Chance Qualifier taking place the week of April 18.
NBA 2K
The Pride NBA 2K roster closed out the ECAC season with respectable performances. The Grey team of Ben Blackburn ended with a 1-6 record in 15th place and the Gold team of Keshawn Murphy finished with a 3-5 record in 18th place, one game short of qualifying for the postseason.
Madden NFL
The Pride Madden roster had a surge towards the end of their ECAC season, with the Grey team of James Vandun finishing with a 5-3 record in eighth place and qualifying for the postseason. The Grey team will face off against Long Island University tonight in the second round of the playoffs. The White team of Caleb Berry ended with a 3-5 record in 29th place, one game short of qualifying for the postseason, and the Navy team of Elijah Grogan finished with a 2-6 record in 35th place.
Fortnite
The Pride Fortnite team have consistently improved each week of the ECAC Duos season, putting a large amount of points up on the board. The squad of Jacob Schemmel and Devan Quesada ended their season with 146 points in 10th place overall, qualifying them for the postseason. The semifinals will take place this Thursday, with the Fortnite team needing to finish in the top eight to continue on to the finals.
