Dubuque, Iowa native and 2004 Dubuque Senior High School graduate Ed (Frederick) Brogean was a four-year member of Clarke’s men’s volleyball program.

As a senior, Brogean topped the 1,000-kill mark, earned Mid-America Men’s Volleyball Intercollegiate Conference (MAMVIC) East Division first-team All-Conference honors and was voted the Crusaders’ MVP.  He led the East Division in both blocks and kills, and was named to the MAMVIC East All-Tournament Team.

Brogean ranks fourth in career block solos (79), fifth in kills per set (3.41), sixth in attack attempts (2,294), service aces (72) and total blocks (231), seventh in kills (1,005) and points (1,271) and eighth in attack percentage (.259) and block assists (231).

As a member of Clarke’s men’s tennis program, Brogean finished second as a freshman and sophomore in No. 2 doubles at the Northern Illinois – Iowa Conference Tournament.

In his Hall of Fame questionnaire, Brogean said “I want the Clarke Community to know that the major part of my growth as a person and adult happened during my years at Clarke College/University. The staff, teachers, coaches etc. were a huge part of my personal development and my faith development. I want the community to remember my love for the Clarke Athletic programs through my participation and support in athletic events and my fun loving, competitive spirit that brought many different people together.”

Brogean is an executive resolution manager with the Customer Care and Recovery Group at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage in Des Moines. He has been with the company since 2009.

Brogean is in his third season as head varsity volleyball coach at Van Meter High School. He turned a losing program (9-19) into a winning programs (21-9) in his first year.

Prior to his stint at Van Meter, Brogean spent three seasons as the head varsity volleyball coach at Waukee High School. He guided Waukee to back-to-back state quarterfinalist finishes.

Brogean is active in the Des Moines Pride and the Iowa Power Plex Volleyball Club, and is a member of the Urbandale Church of Christ.

Brogean received his bachelor of arts degree in biology from Clarke in 2009.  He earned masters of business administration in organizational leadership from Upper Iowa University.

Ed resides in Windsor Heights, Iowa with his twins Zylir and Zuri.
